Upcoming Changes to Sick Notes

From April 2010 the current 'sick note' will be replaced by the Statement of Fitness to Work or 'fit note'. They will include a tick list of options on how employers can help a patient return to work.

GPs will be able to offer advice on what work an employee may be able to perform and will be able to suggest adjustments to working arrangements which could be made in order to facilitate an earlier return to work.

To understand how this will affect your business, and to start planning now, please contact fran@virtualhrservices.co.uk.

Upcoming Changes to Paternity Leave

On 1st April 2010 The Additional Paternity Leave Regulations 2010 will entitle employees who are fathers or partners of mothers or adopters, to take paternity leave of up to 26 weeks once the mother has returned to work. To understand how the changes could affect your business, contact kellie@virtualhrservices.co.uk.

Employment law can trip up new or even established companies. When the company is interested in developing the business and concentrating on money, they can easily miss employee needs and then end up in court, incurring unnecessary costs and diverting management time to attend an employment tribunal.
